Each year we contribute the majority of our membership dues to various local charities that are near and dear to our members. We also support our members by making donations on a personal level, like pledging to Lori’s Breast Cancer 3-Day (60 mile!) walk in Chicago (Lori lost her Mom to breast cancer) and contributing toward Missy’s registration & travel expenses to the National Spina Bifida Foundation Conference in Tucson (Missy’s 2 year old daughter was born with Spina Bifida). We care about our members and we enjoy coming together as an organization to support them. We also volunteer our time to causes like the Siouxland Human Society’s Gourmet Apple fundraiser. And cash isn’t the only thing we give away; this past winter our members donated care package items to Support Siouxland Soldiers.
I encourage SFN members to become “contributing authors” and post website links, pictures, videos and stories about the causes you are passionate about on our blog. And the Siouxland Friends & Neighbor’s Charity Chair will keep you updated regarding SFN donations and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. I know there are many wonderful, deserving charities in our community - if you’d like to recommend a charity to receive a SFN donation, please leave a comment or email us at siouxlandfriendsandneighbors@gmail.com
